This is a note to let you know that we have just queued up the patch titled
Subject: Input: i8042 - remove identification strings from DMI tables
Are you also tking the patch to DMI to allow empty idents? Without it
this will crash the kernel. Regardless, I do not think it is
stable-worthy.
Hm, I thought I needed this one, for the patches afterward that required
this in order to get their dmi additions to apply properly.
If not, my mistake, Ill back this one out and add the dmi additions "by
hand" to get them to merge correctly.
If not, it looks like commit id 75757507e014fa074d25d2883c4ab604999584bd
is what I need to add, correct? Would that be best to do in order to
handle merging new DMI table additions properly in the future for the
.32 tree (i.e. for the next 2-3 years)?
Hmm, next 2-3 years - OK then yes, take "DMI: allow omitting ident
strings in DMI tables" (75757507e014fa074d25d2883c4ab604999584bd) as
well - in the long run it will be safer than editing DMI quirks by hand.
Yeah, I figured that as well. Ive now queued up the DMI patch as well,
thanks for pointing out the dependancy.
